Be a TRi KiDS Volunteer

We receive great feedback after every race about TRi KiDS Volunteers. Not only do volunteers help make the race a memorable one for the athletes, they too are rewarded by the experience.  TRi KiDS Volunteers are engaged, enthusiastic, passionate and play an important role in the safety and success of TRi KiDS races. Please consider joining us for a race or two!

Online registration will open in March 2020.

Volunteer roles include:

Race kit pick up day

  • race kit pick up is on the Saturday before race day Sunday
  • greeting and directing athletes and families
  • distributing t-shirts and race kits
  • body marking athletes
  • assist with set up and tear down
  • race kit stuffing

Pool deck marshals

  • helping athletes out of the pool – requires bending and lifting
  • assisting with and life jackets
  • providing direction on deck to spectators

Transition area

  • greeting athletes and assisting with racking bikes and setting up gear (prior triathlon experience is helpful)
  • ensuring a safe transition free of spectators
  • assisting athletes as they enter transition and head to bike course (tying shoes, putting on shirts, fastening helmets and removing bikes from racks)
  • directing and encouraging
  • Drop Transition – taking bikes and helmets from athletes after they have completed the bike portion, re-racking bikes

  • directing athletes on the bike and run course
  • use flags to direct
  • standing position for the shift

Water station

  • handing out water on run course
  • directing and encouraging athletes
  • setting up water station and cleaning up cups and jugs

Post race food tent

  • setting up post race food tent, cutting fruit, opening boxes
  • keeping area tidy of garbage, dismantling boxes
  • filling water cups
